Donald Trump has fired his campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, as he and his team are looking forward on closing the gap with Hillary Clinton.
“The Donald J. Trump Campaign for President, which has set a historic record in the Republican Primary having received almost 14 million votes, has today announced that Corey Lewandowski will no longer be working with the campaign,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in a statement to The New York Times.
Main reason for this action for Trump is the constant fights between Lewandowski and Paul Manafort.
“The campaign is grateful to Corey for his hard work and dedication and we wish him the best in the future.”
Trump’s campaign has been plagued with fights coming from his inner circle. People are divided between Corey Lewandowski – who is without doubt Trumps biggest loyalist, his campaign manager but without political experience, and on the opposite site is Paul Manafort and the wing of the campaign staffers. Paul Manafort is a longtime Washington insider, who enjoys bigger support than Corey.
The former campaign manager has also been a lightning rod of criticism — he was charged with battery after video emerged of him grabbing a former Breitbart News reporter, and had been spotted getting into altercations with protestors at campaign rallies. The charges afterwards were eventually dropped.
What is your opinion? Was Trump right to fire Corey Lewandowski?
